Leveraging Instagram's Five Links In Bio Feature

In case you haven't noticed yet, your account should now have the ability to add up to FIVE links in your Instagram bio (finally, amiright?) πŸŽ‰

But SHOULD you add five links?

If yes, what links should you add?

In what order?

And what if your content strategy relies on a third party tool to share a different link for each post? 🀨

Considering that Instagram’s bio interface:

  • only shows your first link

  • hides the rest behind β€œβ€¦and __ others” text

You’ll want to:

  1. only add your top priority links

  2. list them by order of importance

Here's πŸ‘‡ how it looks like on our Instagram.

πŸ’¬ We added descriptive text with an emoji for each link for visual context to facilitate quick text scanning for the user.

  • πŸ”” Remember: your descriptive text comes with a character limit so you'll want to be as concise as possible, especially if you use CTAs (call(s) to action). You can also take creative liberties by shortening certain words that would still be understandable like we did above with "mthly."

  • πŸ’‘ Advanced Tip: add UTM parameters to your Instagram links to track your landing page traffic from Instagram. Here's an in-depth tutorial on how to set up UTM tracking and how to find UTM data in GA4.

πŸ—£οΈ "What if I rely heavily on a third party tool (like Linkin.bio) to hyperlink each post to a corresponding landing page?

Then it might be best to stick with what you're already doing and list this landing page as your first link so that it's convenient for your visitors to find. You could also add other high priority sites like your 1️⃣ newsletter signup page and 2️⃣ website to your list of links to encourage more organic traffic.
